Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 4) — JM Canlas, youngest brother of actors Elijah and Jerom Canlas, died at the age of 17, his family announced Thursday.

“It is with the heaviest heart and deep sorrow that our family announces the death of our bunso [youngest brother], Jamile Matthew Madiclum Canlas, earlier this morning. He was 17,” Jerom Canlas wrote in a Facebook post, but did not specify the cause of death.

His eldest brother Jerom also shared that JM struggled with his mental health during his adolescence.

“If you are experiencing current distress and are in need of URGENT ATTENTION, please proceed to the emergency room of the hospital nearest you,” Jerom said.

JM’s wake will be held at St. Peter Chapel, Quezon Avenue from Aug. 4 to 6.

“As we begin our beloved JM Canlas’ wake tonight, we would love for you to share your memories with him. Comment a story, photo, song, poem, or anything you want with/for JM,” he added.

JM is part of a music production studio Hit Productions Inc. He is a Filipino dub actor for some notable Netflix films such as Stranger Things, We Have a Ghost, and Wednesday.

He also appeared in independent films Kiko Boksingero (2017), and ANi (2019).
