Manchester United set to sign former Real Madrid player by Sourav Mahanty
Former Real Madrid player completes Manchester United medical by Sourav Mahanty
This Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga seems to have no end in sight. In fact, the twists and turns just keep coming one after the other. Not too long ago, it was looking like the Frenchman leaving Paris Saint-Germain was inevitable. He had been left out of their pre-season tour, not included in their matchday squad for the season opener and was not even training with the first-team for a while.
It had looked like Mbappe did not want to sign a contract extension with PSG. On the other hand, it looked like the Ligue 1 champions wanted him to leave if he was not willing to agree a new deal.
Then, the situation changed almost out of the blue. Mbappe is now back in the PSG first-team and amongst the goals. And it looks like he is set to extend his stay in the French capital as well.
As tweeted out by Marco Conterio, PSG are ready to renew Mbappe’s contract. There is a gentlemen’s private agreement with a clause for the summer of ’24. The renewal will be until 2026.
Major twist in Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga
There has been quite a bit of speculation in recent times that Mbappe could extend his contract with PSG. Thus, this update should not come as a major surprise to those who have been following every step of this saga.
If Mbappe does end up signing an extension, it would end all hopes that Real Madrid have of signing him as a free agent next summer. It looks like there would be a release clause for 2024 in the new contract though.
A possible Mbappe contract extension would not end this transfer saga. But it would certainly make it more difficult for Real Madrid to sign him in the near future.
