10 Tips For Building a Bridge to Confidence and Success in Life
Confident people feel good about themselves, build better personal relationships and are more successful at work. They are confident when interacting with others, whether speaking in front of a group, on the phone or in a job interview.
Self-confidence is a reflection of your self-confidence and if you lack confidence, you will not get along with people. In the workplace as well as in your personal life, low self-esteem hinders progress and denies you many opportunities. Confidence is an essential skill in any interview situation, including making a presentation at an Assessment Centre. In interviews, your level of confidence will be apparent to the interviewers and can influence how they perceive you and how they evaluate your credibility.

10 tips to overcome low self-esteem
1. Get out of your comfort zone and try new tasks. Create new strategies for action, meet new people and visit new places.
2. Improve your knowledge and stay up-to-date. Staying informed will give you confidence. Broaden the scope of your information gathering so that you are up-to-date and share the latest instead of outdated information.
3. Recognize and value the importance of continuing learning – lifelong learning. It doesn’t have to be a formal course, because we learn in different ways and from different experiences -ourselves, our families and friends and, sometimes, even from those stranger.
4. Develop strong thinking skills. Being a Mother and answering a lot of questions from your child has prepared you for this, so show what you’ve learned. You will have more successful results if you can think quickly when on your feet -or seat- in an interview and respond well to the questions asked by the interviewers.
5. If you can’t find a suitable answer, ask for time to answer it later, before the end of the interview. It shows that you are thinking and ready to do your best.
6. Don’t let failures get you down. Recognize what you learned from each situation and make sure you don’t repeat the actions that caused it.
7. Learn to express your ideas – fluently and in a way that attracts people. Give your skills a boost by signing up for a public speaking or presentation skills course or get advice from a Trainer or Speaker who seems confident and demonstrates mastery of public speaking skills.
8. Model the behavior of confident people you meet, especially those people you spend time with.
9. Visualize yourself in situations where you are comfortable and feel confident. Now remember how you feel and hold that feeling of happiness for a few seconds. If you can recreate that feeling you will find that you can change how you feel now. This technique is known as ‘anchoring’. Use this anchoring technique when you feel you need to boost your self-esteem.
10. Recognize your own abilities and experience, don’t underestimate them. If you can ‘pat yourself on the back’ about what you already know, your self-esteem and confidence will increase. Give yourself that much-needed and well-deserved boost!
