Faithbook: How to Write Your Christian Testimony in 5 Easy Steps
If someone wants to buy a book, or a pair of shoes, he probably will tESTIMONY from another person. When I want to buy a book on Amazon, I read the opinions of people who have read the book. Yes, I am interested in what this person has to say because he can share him testimony.
When a Christian shares their testimony, this was their first experience of asking Jesus to enter their heart and soul. The number tESTIMONY are their truths and evidence of Christianity.
Step 1 Begin with a Prayer
When we, Christians, start any project, I believe we should first pray. The first thing I want you to do is pray. 1 Timothy 2:1 (MSG)
So this time I will pray for you, my Christian Friend.
Jesus,
I want to raise this Christian friend to you. Lord,
Thank you for taking the time to read this article.
I ask you to guide his thoughts and give power to his words
that he can make a difference in someone’s life. guiding
his testimony can be a tool to lead others to you-
whether now or in the future.
I ask you these things in the Power of the Holy Name of Jesus.
Amen.
Now be quiet for a moment. Pray for the person who will read or hear your testimony.
Step 2 Define your Purpose for Your Testimony
You might say, “What are you talking about? I know you are sharing your testimony so that God can use it to touch someone’s life.”
To that I reply: “You are right.”
But, is there anyone in particular you would like to receive/read your testimony? Who is it? Your child? Your daughter? Your grandson? Other Friends? Relatives?
The Bible tells us: Tell your children and grandchildren about the glorious miracles that He (God) did. Deuteronomy 4:9 (TLB)
Only God and you know your goal.
My goal in my testimony is to pass it on to my son, my granddaughter, my stepchildren, and grandchildren and those who will follow me. I also hope that God will use the words of my testimony to plant seeds for others so that they too can share hope with their loved ones and future generations.
What about a man who says in front of others that he knows me? I will also say before my Father in Heaven that I know him. Matthew 10:32 (New International Reader’s Version)
Step 3 Consider the Truth
Regardless of the truth, whether you are 7 years old or 97 years old, God can still use your story. So here are some questions to help you start thinking about it.
-
How old are you? (If you don’t know exactly, just estimate.)
-
What church do you attend? Where is the church located?
-
When did you invite Jesus into your heart? (If you are like me you may not know the specific date. However, you may know your age, season, or year. I know that I am nine years old and that it is during the spring of revival.)
-
Where were you when you accepted Jesus as your Savior?
-
Who led you to accept Our Lord? Family member? Sunday school teacher? Pastor? Friend? Another Person?
-
Who else influenced your decision?
-
Do you remember what else happened that day? (Bible School, Sunday Church Services, Revival?)
-
Did you answer Jesus’ call immediately or did you delay?
-
Describe how you feel.
Obviously, the answers to these questions will vary. Consider the fact that some people accepted Jesus at a very young age and others at a mature age. And because God made each of us unique our answers will automatically be different.
That’s what makes your testimony so powerful. You can reach someone, that others can’t, because your story is unique to you.
Step 4 Create Your Story
… if someone asks why you believe as you do, be prepared to tell him, and do it in a gentle and respectful way. 1 Peter 3:15 (LTB)
Using your answers to the questions above, write your story. You can choose to create an outline first or just write a rough draft. Do it the way you feel most comfortable.
So why don’t you start writing your story about when you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Let’s go. Do it now!
5. Share Your Testimony with your Faith book
Maybe God is calling you to write your testimony. In written form it can be shared with your Faith book. Your loved ones now and those who will follow you in the future can benefit from your words.
If God is stirring your heart to write the story of your testimony, start right away. Don’t delay. I want to teach friends that time is of the essence. There is no time to waste… 1 Corinthians 7:29 (MSG)
You never know who God might influence in your story.
