The New Age Movement Vs Christianity – Part 1
I want to clearly show you in this report how the principles of NAM and the bible are in stark contrast.
The New Age Movement (NAM) is a renewed combination of ancient religious, traditions and practices. The movement got its name from the belief in the emergence of the “Age of Aquarius”. In addition to ancient influences, NAM is deeply rooted in the counter-culture movement of the 1960’s. Note: For brevity purposes, in this report I refer to the New Age Movement as NAM.
It is difficult to get an estimate of the number of believers in the New Age because it covers many belief systems (such as reincarnation, the occult, etc.). In America alone it is estimated that 10,000,000 people believe or practice NAM in one way or another. However, if you add related beliefs such as reincarnation, and other Far Eastern beliefs in the USA and the world; then the global membership is assumed to be much, much larger. It really fits the description of a harlot religion as described in the end time bible prophecies.
A common belief among NAM is that humanity has or is about to enter a new era known as the Age of Aquarius, where man will finally come to embrace love, happiness, peace, abundance, and togetherness. -harmony among peoples and nations; the Golden Age of man. So based on what is happening around the world today, it is clear that this new era of peace is nowhere to be seen.
I will clearly show you how the principles of NAM and the bible contradict. You can NOT believe in the God of the bible if you accept the philosophy of the New Age. I want to emphasize again that they are very opposite – complete opposites! They are like light against darkness, day against night, like polarity, and to make a phrase familiar to the New Ages – they are opposites like “Yin and Yang”.
The Genesis of the New Age Movement (NAM)
The term New Age refers to the coming astrological Age of Aquarius. This is similar to the beliefs of the Mayans at different times. According to believers in the Age of Aquarius, the planet goes through major astronomical cycles that can be identified through astrology; the previous two thousand years were described as the Age of Pisces, which is now giving way to the Age of Aquarius. This age is believed to last for about 2000 years, before being replaced by another age. However, the “new” in the words “New Age” is deceptive to begin with. Although they represent that it is new because of a supposed new age to be heralded by astrological signs (Age of Aquarius and other Astrological influences), almost all other beliefs and practices have ancient roots.
Even NAM’s “New Age of Aquarius” theme is old news – it’s based on Astrology. Astrology has been around since ancient times – it’s the belief that things in the sky affect people throughout their life cycle.
The mystery of the stars and planetary movements is something that attracts many followers of NAM; but the NAM is simply changing the old mythology and embellishing it as if the movement of the constellation Aquarius will somehow release some kind of divine essence of man; converting man into a God or Goddess. Kind of sounds like ancient Egyptian, Greek, Babylonian and Roman Mythology again – doesn’t it? To learn more about the root of and the
Many practices of this cult activity such as astrology, clairvoyance, divination, sorcery, necromancy (consulting the dead), and spiritism are clearly and strongly condemned in Scripture (Deuteronomy 18:9-17; Isaiah 47: 9-15; Rev. 17). Many of these occult practices come from the mystery religions of the ancient Assyrian-Babylonians, Chaldeans, and Egyptians.
Evangelical Christians and Catholics have expressed concern over NAM and its influence. The Roman Catholic Church for example published A Christian reflection on the New Age in 2003, after six years of study; the 90-page document criticizes New Age practices such as yoga, meditation, feng shui, and crystal healing. According to the Vatican, euphoric states achieved through New Age practices should not be confused with prayer or considered signs of God’s presence.
The Lord Maitreya of NAM
Regarding Nam’s claim of the future “Christ” as their Lord Maitreya” – it is interesting how many cults try to invoke the name of Christ in an attempt to legitimize or add credibility to their own faith and falsehood. doctrines.
Another anti-Christian dogma within NAM is that one of the requirements for a person to enter the New Age is that he must take what is called “Luciferic Initiation,” a form of loyalty to the New Age god and his proposed New World Order.
Although the NAM appears to have a liberal approach to all religions, its basic philosophy undermines the Judeo-Christian faith and all its beliefs; in that one of the basic practices of NAM is Gnosticism; the Luciferic principle that “holiness” is within man and not only within the sovereign God of the universe. They believe that it is natural for man to worship man or himself, because man is god.
It bears a striking resemblance to apostate world religion which HG Wells predicted that people will accept in the future.
More important is the similarity between NAM’s goal for a world religion and the Antichrist’s one world religion that all unbelievers will accept in the end times as prophesied in the Book of Revelation (Rev. 13, 17).
In the following verse you can change “the beast” with the charismatic man who will control all commerce, and demand the worship of all unbelievers in the end times; which the New Agers call Maitreya:
Pin. 13:14-18
Below are some specific areas where the New Age and the principles of Christianity are very different; and the first two should get your attention!
Christianity – Lucifer is Satan
New Age – Lucifer is the true son of God
Christianity – waiting for the second coming of Christ
New Era – waiting for a Maitreya world government
Christianity – Jesus is God
New Age – Jesus is one of many
Christianity – we are saved by grace
New Age – We achieve Godhood through works
Christianity – Jesus is the way
New Age – our Christ-Consciousness is the way to salvation
Christianity – we must worship God
New Age – we must worship creation
Christianity – we will be resurrected
New Age – we will be reincarnated
Christianity – the word is the truth
New Age – the truth is within
Christianity – Sin must be overcome
New Age – no sin
Christianity – Christ is our redeemer
New Age – we make our own holiness
Christianity – God is the creator
New Age – humanity has evolved apart from God
NAM is a Complex Belief System
It is hard not to conclude that the New Age Movement is a deliberate effort to confuse and mislead the people with a lot of works for the attainment of “godliness”; including and not limited to: Astrology, Bio-energy,
Chi energy, Esoteric cosmology, Nirvana, Occult practices, reincarnation, cosmic consciousness, and anything else as long as it is not Christian based!
If this NAM is not a deliberate attempt to undermine the Christian faith, and so that its followers will be confused for a lifetime trying to understand the essence of his faith, then I do not know what its purpose really is.
It seems that the New Age movement is very chaotic and points in many directions to keep its followers in a state of lethargy, unable to find the one and only path that leads to divine truth. The truth of the bible is very clear and simple, but man wants to complicate it all through complex belief systems built on half truths and lies; which is exactly what the prince of darkness wants – to keep us all in the dark!
God and NAM
Since in NAM self-unification is the ultimate goal, God is our only destiny once we realize self-mastery. In NAM God is not the supreme being that Christians believe him to be. He is instead only a part of creation – he is the whole essence of creation. They believe in “monism” which means one – so that God and all creation are one. It is because of this definition that they claim that we are all gods.
NAM misquotes the bible to prove their doctrine of oneness. For example, they especially like to quote the words of Jesus “the kingdom of God is within you” found in Luke 17:21. When translated into the original Greek, what Jesus said in Luke 17:21 is that the Kingdom of God (Jesus) will be among them at a certain time in time.
This explanation is also reinforced when Jesus declared that He is the only way to the Kingdom of God. on John 14:6 Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.”
NAM is wrong again, because it is impossible for us to be gods, because there is ONLY ONE GOD! Even Satan knows that it is impossible for us to be God. This is why in Genesis Chapter 3, he is careful to explain that we will be “like God”. And even here he means that we will “become like God” with regard to only one small aspect – that is to achieve “the knowledge of good and evil.”
In Part 2, we will explore NAM’s view of Jesus, salvation, sin, self-improvement, good and evil, Satan and Lucifer, and more.
