Prospective Teacher Seeks Praxis II Test Solution

The Praxis II Test has become illusive to many prospective teachers. One of the reasons is because of the lack of technique and strategy.

There are certain strategies that are needed to pass the Praxis II test. Eighty percent of the Praxis II exam is dedicated towards multiple choice questions. Knowing how to answer these is important.

Here are some Praxis II tips given by test coaches at Teaching Solutions:

1. Think about longer answers as being the correct ones

2. Avoid choosing answers with words like “all, any, always, never and none.”

3. If you have to guess, choose one of the middle answers as opposed to the first and last answers

4. Choose related answers instead of unrelated ones

5. When you see an answer such as “All of the above,” it usually is right in most cases

6. When you see an answer such as “None of the above,” it is usually not the right answer

7. If you are having hard time choosing between two similar answers use the true and false strategy by determining which question makes a truer statement

8. An answer that has technical jargon may not be right

9. Read all the choices before you make an actual choice

10. Decide what the question is asking by looking at certain keywords.

Strategic tips for passing the Praxis II exam

When taking the Praxis II test; make sure you underline words that are important and think about how they impact the meaning of the question. You may find hints about a question from other questions on the test. Pay close attention for certain language used by your teacher or that is in the text books. These are usually the correct answers.

Don’t change your first answer unless you are absolutely sure that it is incorrect. Your first choice is usually right. Put a line through the answers that you are sure are not right.

No matter if you think that you know the answer, make sure you read over the statement or question more than once. It will help you. Give yourself about 1 to 2 minutes to answer a question. If you are taking longer, move on to the next question.

Pay attention to answer selections that are opposite. If you have four choices, bring it down to only two choices by eliminating the ones that you know are false. If one of the last two is opposite, then it is easier to choose the right one.

Be sure you understand that there are two formats of multiple choice questions; one is the fill-in-the-blank format and the other is circling the right answer.
