10 Tips for Soccer Parents to Offer Their Soccer Kids

A small change in soccer mindset can lead to a big change in performance. If a soccer player can sharpen his thinking on and off the pitch – by a small percentage – teammates and coaches can see a huge improvement in the quality and consistency of an individual’s game.

In soccer soft skills are hard skills. A player’s confidence can disappear as quickly and quietly as it came. That all-important focus capacity can be enjoyed in fleeting moments but players are often distracted by the nature of the game and the complexity of the brain. In a game of emotions the development of players with great talent can slow down as a result of the burden of expectation, the difficulty of self-management and because of holding negative feelings can have more clarity in mind as the pressure to perform builds.

It is important to offer solutions to the mental challenges presented in the beautiful game. So, here are 10 soccer tips that can help parents with their kids’ soccer:

1. To win you must believe. To be confident you need to think like a winner. It starts with thinking.

2. Faith grows from hard work, quality work, good imagination and good thinking.

3. No one is purely positive. A soccer player must learn to identify his negative thoughts then be able to let them go.

4. Focusing on soccer is important. A player can be very talented, have good technique and yet his career can fail due to poor focus.

5. The myth of focus is the concept that more focus is needed. It is putting your focus in the right direction that is an important mediator.

6. A player can be plagued by a wandering mind. The past is lost and out of control. The future can only be influenced by focusing on the present.

7. The great football player continues. He missed her, he continued. He gave the ball, he continued. He lowered a goal, he continued.

8. Quick feet can be a physical phenomenon… but it can soon become sticky if a player is not equipped to perform under pressure.

9. Failure in football is not fatal… but thinking that it is… is!

10. There is no break the player must be present on the day of the match. Relentlessly positive, relentlessly focused, relentlessly driven. That skill can be learned.
