Wheatgrass, Health And the Forgotten Secret of Success (Part 9) – Visualize it

I will provide you with valuable information obtained from my own experience and that of Mike Hernacki and his wonderful book, “The Forgotten Secret of Extraordinary Success”. In this article, I’m going to take several hearty nuggets of wisdom from his sixth chapter “What You Need to Succeed” and add my own comments so you have two ways to use it for your own benefit:

Hernacki discusses the process to see if you want change in your life by helping you identify change and uncover the mental barriers that are holding you back:

Hernacki begins the chapter by helping you see that if you want something different, but you keep doing the same thing, you won’t get the change you want. (On the other hand, this is also the definition of insanity.)

So, to have the change you want, you have to ACT different thing.

But to do something different, you have to think different. You need to change your mind.

This is the first thing you should do.

It’s also the hardest thing you’ll ever do. Why? The human mind resists change. It usually does not see its own faults, even if they are clearly visible to others. And nothing can be physically seen or measured directly. You can only measure behavior and results.

But you have to change your mind to change your actions to change your life.

Hernacki quotes a section of the book I Can If I Want To, written by Arnold Lazarus and Allen Fay, to show that you need four conditions for any change, including change in your thoughts:

  1. You must IDENTIFYING something that is a problem
  2. You must accept the possibility that something can be done about it
  3. You must express a desire to change
  4. You must willing to work and try to change

Hernacki then analyzes an example of wanting to go into business for yourself to show how you can apply these four steps to yourself:

What’s holding you back is, all along you honestly believe you can’t do it on your own. If you are going to open that business, you need to change your mind first.

Step 1: Can you identify the problem?

You say you don’t hate your job, the pay is okay, the benefits are better than what you have on your own, and you have job security and a pension.

If this is all you can say, you have no problem.

But, if you say, “Yes, but…” like:

  • Yes, but I want to see if I can do it myself
  • Yes, but I hate taking orders from a fool for a boss
  • Yes, but I’m tired and need challenges

… then go to step 2:

Step 2: Can you accept the possibility that something can be done about it?

You can express your uncertainty at this point, such as, “I don’t know how to run a business, even start a business, and I don’t need money, and I don’t know what kind of business. I want to try.”

Hernacki said it’s okay to have doubts from not knowing all the answers at first, then asked,

  • Would you accept to have the possibility to ask someone where to start?
  • Can you accept that there is a possibility to start saving money?
  • Would you accept the possibility to explore different business opportunities?

If you answered Yes, you can go to Step 3…

Hernacki skipped Steps 3 and 4 in his example, so I’ll go ahead and finish it for you.

Step 3: Can you express the desire to change?

Since we are talking about changing your mind, this step is simply stating in clear terms what you want.

Personally, I find that many people get stuck here at Step 3 because they don’t have a clear image of what they want. Step 1 helps identify what you don’t want in clear terms. And Step 2 helps you see that it really is possible to change, even if you don’t know how.

One method I use when I know there is an exact thing I want but I can’t see it in my mind is to give myself away. either/or choices.

It works because on a primitive hard-wired psychological level, we have certain drives and instincts hard-wired into us: we have a built-in mechanism to know what we don’t want so we can stay alive. and safe.

How does it work? Let’s say you live in Los Angeles and are looking for a new home to rent:

  1. Do you want to stay in Los Angeles OR do you want to move? Los Angeles
  2. Do you want to live in a single family home OR an apartment? Apartment
  3. Do you want to live on a higher floor OR a middle level OR a lower level? Upper floor
  4. Do you want to have a good view OR a view is not necessary? Good view
  5. Do you want to see the city OR see the sea? Sea view
  6. Do you want a big kitchen OR a small kitchen? Small kitchen
  7. Do you want larger closets / extra storage OR don’t need storage? Lots of cupboards/extra storage

And on and on for the highest budget… location/neighborhood… noise level… shared situation or not… close to highways or public transit… all in one convenient or choice.

It’s like using a search function on a website where you select your pull-down options and it sorts through the database to find listings that match your criteria. Except that your mind is the database and you conduct the search to find what you want so that you can see it in clear terms.

And the result of your either/or choices is a crystal clear image that expresses your desire:

A two bedroom, one bath apartment in a clean, quiet, safe neighborhood on a higher floor with a great ocean view, 1000 square feet minimum, fairly large living room, outside deck for of fresh air and sunning, modern kitchen appliances, large closets or extra storage, newer carpeting but not hardwood floors, clean bathrooms, quality professional management that maintains a well-managed building, interior on two blocks of a major bus line, for a maximum of $1,500 per month.

Now you have the idea of ​​what you want in front of you like a picture in a magazine. With that mental picture, you can start adding it: how do you arrange the living room? Your room? Is the second bedroom for guests or your home office?

As you go about your daily routine, this image will grow in clarity and intensity for you. And you will begin to find possible matches in the outside world, which will help you clarify what you want more because you will find things that you did not think about before, such as: that is a nice building but I see they have staff who see everyone come and make sure they register guests. I want a safe building but I want my privacy and not the staff monitoring me or my guests coming or going.

Now, you know your mind has changed enough to move on to Step 4:

Step 4. Can you be willing to work and try to change?

The beauty of actually knowing what you don’t like is that you can focus on what you do like. And Step 3 makes it crystal clear for you, even putting your mind to work on matching the outer world with your internal image. It’s a way of trying things on for size to see if they fit.

If you don’t get rid of what you’re not doing, you’ll find yourself forcing yourself to be willing to work and make those efforts to change.

But when you have a crystal clear image in your mind, that image attracts you and forces you to find its physical equivalent in the outside world. It will be an experience of pleasant exploration instead of an escape from the pain of your current situation (even from work to your own business from the current home to a new home).

You want to change and have fun chasing your dreams!

Steps 3 and 4 are part of the Law of Attraction:

This automatic magnetic power of that crystal clear inner image to attract your attention to matches in the outer physical world is the “magic” that is often mentioned in the discussion of the power of imagination, imagination, of ” law of attraction” and New Mind teachings. Being a long time student of this, I have found that most of them do not use Step 3 as I have shown you.

Instead of getting rid of what you don’t want through my Either/Or options, they talk about focusing on what you do want.

I’ve used it and proven it works over and over again to build my businesses and make myself a multimillionaire, transforming from chronically ill to a health champion that others trust for in their health guidance, and enjoying all aspects of my life while continuing to improve them.
